Motivation

Permalink Closed
I kept telling myself that I was fat and ugly, and when my clothes don't fit, its like my clothes are putting me down as well.  Of course this depressed me and made me want to eat the junk food that much more.  What a nasty cycle!

BUT, I am excited to share that I have started Jazzercise.  I have gone to class 3 times now and its kicking my butt but I love it!  It gets me out of bed in the morning and moving.  I already feel better about myself and want to be a healthier person.

I have a long ways to go, but I am excited for now.  Anyone have suggestions on how to keep myself motivated?  I tend to be all gung ho about something and within a month loose that motivation, and I really don't want to do that this time.

Dear Kari,

My name is Merna and I am a Self-Discovery Coach from PocketofPearls.com. First, I want to say - Wow! Good for you with this path you have started. You are also asking some great questions when it comes to motivation and weightloss.

It is common to find some motivation needed for change when we get to a point of wanting a healthier feeling body. This is where so many people find themselves within 30 days or so, they lose this newfound motivation. You are not alone here at all! We have all been there at one time or another in our lives. As the old saying goes, "Slow and steady wins the race".

However, do not forget that we must face some obstacles of 'how we got here' to get where we are going with our goals, while creating a plan to maintain it. We must find our strong habits we have gained and work on breaking them, while replacing them with liveable ones.

This is where coaching can help you with tools to change your relationship with food, self-motivation tools, healing some wounds to strengthen your self-worth, and much more. In addition,  I give you homework to 'kick start' a *New You*.

Kari, your post really shows your true inner strength and courage that has surfaced to help you acheive what you are working on. Remember, you are already doing this! Kudos! Please let me know when you are ready to meet.

Take care,

Coach Merna

Me three! I have struggled with my weight and exercise most of my life. I just can't stay motivated!

I have thought of hiring a coach, but it sort of scares me of being judged. Maybe I haven't investigated it enough. I don't need someone telling me all the things I am doing wrong, because I hear that voice enough all by myself. I am pretty brutal somedays.
